Rumored performers are Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney as well as almost every living retired Yankee. The date of the event may be scheduled for November 8, 2008.

UPDATE: The Yankees have decided that in the grand tradition of the Yankees and Yankees Stadium, a baseball game was the appropriate way to close out the old Yankees Stadium and there will be no final concert at Yankee Stadium.

Stubhub, the leading online ticket marketplace reports that it has listed over 9,000 tickets available for the Yankees’ final regular season game ever at Yankee Stadium vs the Baltimore Orioles scheduled for September 21st.

The average ticket selling price for Orioles-Yankees is $400. The most expensive ticket sold for the finale was a $3,500 ticket sold last month. Stubhub reports that the Orioles-Yankees game is the best selling MLB game (regular and postseason!) in Stubhub history, based on dollar volume although in gross dollars the Yankees All-Star game was higher.
